AFTER THE FIGHT: NFC FIGHT NIGHT #130 RECAP
NFC (National Fighting Championship) Fight Night #130 delivered 16 action-packed fights, stunning knockouts, split decisions and an exciting night of entertainment.
The main event between Gui Curry and Josh Blyden didn’t disappoint, with the split decision going in Blyden’s favor after a hard fought battle.
32 amateur, advanced amateur and professional MMA and muay thai fighters put their skills on display in front of hundreds of fans Saturday night at District Night Club in Atlanta, Georgia.
I interviewed the winner of a few bouts following announcer Jose Santiago’s official decision inside the cage.
Every fighter gave their perspective of the fight and were able to enjoy their winning moment in front of the hundreds in attendance.
Win or loss, each fighter should be commended for their courage in entering the cage to compete.
NFC FIGHT NIGHT #130 PERFORMANCE HIGHLIGHTS
Performance of the Night: Lajuan Davis vs. Don Scozarri
Lajuan Davis unanimous decision victory over Don Scozarri was a bloodbath. Both Davis and Scozarri fought their tails off in an exciting bout. Davis’ striking and grappling skills were on full display while Scozarri proved that he has the heart of a champion — never giving up despite being badly beaten and bloodied. According to promoter David Oblas, Davis, “proved that he’s head and shoulders above any guy in his weight class in the southeast.” Jesse Wable says Davis is well on his way to a larger promotion like Bellator of the UFC.
KO of the Night: Earl Mckinney KO Damien Whitehead
17 seconds into their bantamweight bout Earl Mckinney was pulled off of Damien Whitehead after landing a hard right hand followed up by multiple ground shots. He was boo’d during his introduction by a crowd overwhelmingly in favor of Damien Whitehead but ended up with the final say after his stunning KO of the Night. “He’s definitely going to be the #1 contender at 135lbs,” said head matchmaker Jesse Wable, “kid’s a beast.”
Submission of the Night: Anthony Canzano via guillotine choke over Austin Childers
After surviving a heavy knee to the chin, Anthony Canzano took his opponent to the ground, landed strikes then ultimately found a opportunity to submit Austin Childers via guillotine choke. It was an impressive performance for a man who’s been out of the cage for two years following the birth of his daughter. He made sure to call out matchmaker Jesse Wable during his post fight interview, asking for more fights.
