52nd Anniversary of MLK's Assassination

It's been 52 years since the assassination of Dr. Martin Luther King Jr. at the Lorraine Motel in Memphis, Tennessee.

There was great sorrow, anger and dismay from American’s of all creeds, especially the African-American community.

52 years after King’s assassination, King’s advocacy is still seen in today’s generation as people continue the fight for equality.

The Center for Civil and Human Rights located in downtown Atlanta has galleries dedicated to King's life in addition to his assassination.

I had an opportunity to visit and tour the facility in 2018 during the 50th Anniversary of his assassination.

Gallery assistant Andrew Reid conducted a tour of the Center and described what King meant the city of Atlanta, how he fought for civil rights, and what impact King had on him as a young man of color.

King's legacy lives on today and his teachings are woven into the fabric of American history.
